Anniversary Card

There is, in every leaf fallen,
each seedpod offered,

a prediction sleeping.
In your journal today

preserve a singular leaf
and fold a seed into her

placenta, the master chef
tucking a truffle into cake batter,

the finale to the most outrageous
dinner of a lifetime.

Gabi touches your shoulder,
kneels to join in planting

a seed of choice, yours and hers.
The tissue an envelope again

for what soon will drink in
all delivered light.
